Just How Windy was it in DC Today? VERY

Good gravy. I made the brilliant decision to walk to Total Wine for some more gin and not my smartest choice. Passed the street sign, pictured above, and couldn’t believe it. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a street sign blown off before. Anyway, this weather is CRAZY. Stay warm. My face is still defrosting. The gin helps…

“Dear PoPville,

I wanted to share a note of thanks about a truly kind Good Samaritan.

Yesterday afternoon (February 5), my son’s daycare had to be evacuated due to a fire alarm at the Natural History Museum. The teachers acted quickly and heroically, getting all of the children out safely. In the rush, they weren’t able to grab coats, and the kids were left shivering on the Mall while waiting for the all-clear.

During that time, a kind woman drove by, stopped, and asked whether the children needed coats. She happened to have several children’s coats in her trunk that she was planning to donate. Without hesitation, she gave them to the kids to help keep them warm. (more…)

From AlertDC: “WMATA reports the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Metro Station is temporarily closed due to fire department activity. Trains are currently passing the station. The 2600 block of Connecticut Avenue, between Woodley Road and Calvert Street, NW, is closed to traffic. Please use an alternate route.”

Letting you know Woodley park metro station is closed, they said a pedestrian was truck by a train, so now red line is single tracking
Everything is closed off it’s a crime scene with medical staff and policeman everywhere. (more…)

Once again from my vantage point on CT Ave and Porter St I can report about a solid hour of fire engines and ambulances heading both north on CT and west on Porter. Any idea of what’s up?”
