With bonus nice porch light. It’s nice to see big glass doors like this without security bars around them. Now I have a security door so I’m not judging those who have them but I’m just saying its nice to appreciate the doors naked.

“Two submissions for your contest:
(1) A picture of A. Litteri’s entrance, representing my favorite spot this week – the D.C. Farmers’ Market off of Florida Ave in NE. Last weekend was my first trip to the market and after picking up Italian groceries, vegetables from Sam Wang’s, and a trip to one of the butchers, I was all set for a Sunday dinner for friends. I only found one fresh fish vendor but will continue the search!
(2) A poor adaptation of a good Wilco song. Give my apologies to Tweedy when you see him at show.”
Check out the adaptation of the Wilco song after the jump. (more…)

Located at 1214 U Street, Ulah Bistro is set to open this coming Sunday. I was able to take a sneak peek inside and talk with the General Manager – Andrew Rose. I had reported a rumor back in September that the owner of Tunnicliff’s Tavern was opening up a joint on U Street. And that rumor is now fact, as Mr. Rose explained to me that one of the owners of Tunnicliff’s Tavern of Capitol Hill and Stoney’s in Logan Circle, Med Lahlou, is behind the Ulah Bistro. Rose also explained that the menu is “an American style with a European influence”. Ulah Bistro is two floors and Rose describes the “downstairs as casual comfortable dining” while the upstairs has more of a “lounging feel.” And I have to say the place looks phenomenal. It is open and airy with lots of light and a spectacular layout. If the food is good, which I expect it to be since I love Tunnicliff, this place is going to be extremely popular. I imagine that this is going to be a great nightspot destination as well as a go to brunch establishment. After the jump you can check out the full menu plus the brunch menu and lots more photos including the upstairs lounging area. (more…)

What the hell is up with all these gatorade flavors that give you no indication of what they taste like? I was so hungover at this point, I just wanted a delicious lemon lime. But no! I had to decide between ‘Rain’ and ‘Frost’. What the hell does ‘Rain’ taste like? Because it was light green, I though at least it would taste like lemon lime. But in reality it just tastes like a melted green ice pop. What the hell happened to the proper flavors? Who does this marketing campaign appeal to anyway?

Warning to those driving northbound on Georgia Avenue. This pothole is a good two feet deep. I can’t be 100% certain but I thought I caught a glimpse of Dick Cheney in there… I can’t remember the cross street, I think it is near Allison.

but the house next door seems to be abandoned. I know we’ve sort of discussed this in this past, but this is a perfect example, we’ve left the hypothetical. So if you love a house for sale but the one right next door is deserted with broken windows etc. how much $ do you take off the asking price? Or will it just be more aggravation than what’s it’s worth? Or would you expect/hope the abandoned house to be purchased and renovated?

Got to love the bungalow. Or at least respect it. This one has some great stonework to boot. And how can you not dig the swinging chair?

I always wondered why the good folks at Solly’s would never let me leave out of this door.
