So which is better Columbia Height’s, Mt. P’s or Petworth’s banner?

I’m just saying…

What do you think of the color here?

Mmm, carrots… Some people are pretty weird, yeah?

Oddly, a number of people have emailed me asking for Spa locations near Petworth/Columbia Heights. As I have been to a spa exactly zero times in my life, the only one I knew about was the Medspa on 14th St. in Columbia Heights. But I passed Ramona’s Day Spa and Salon on 3103 Mt. Pleasant St. recently and was wondering if any one has been? If so do you recommend it? It looks cool from the outside.
A “small vintage furniture & collectibles shop” is opening up at 810 Upshur Street – across the street from Domku. I’ll be taking pictures as soon as it is set up and will let you all know when it’s open for business. All I can say is that it is pretty sweet that this type of shop will be opening on Upshur, can’t wait to check out the goods.

I couldn’t believe it but I found someone who is as passionate about doors as I am. This gentleman was kind enough to answer a few questions about his door. He is revarnishing it with boat varnish. He prefers boat varnish to polyurethane because polyurethane doesn’t hold up as well to the exposure of water. He revarnishes his door every two years. This particular door, called the Madrid, was ordered from TW Perry from Bethesda. Perhaps the funniest thing about this encounter was that despite my taking photos and taking notes, not once did he ask me what the hell I was doing this for. I thought that was awesome. After the jump check out the sweet stained glass above the door that is original from 1906. (more…)
Have you noticed it is staying light out much later? That is a great feeling, knowing Spring is around the corner. But here is the catch 22: I can’t wait for the longer days but I’m dreading the inevitable shootings that will come with the longer days and warmer weather. Does this mean I’ve become jaded?
Similarly another catch 22: I can’t wait for the warmer weather so that I won’t have to pay anymore $237 heating gas bills (Ed. note: and that is keeping the thermostat at 58-60 degrees, ok, 62 degrees when I have company over) but I don’t have the scratch to the tune of $14,000 to put in central air conditioning. I know, I’m living a very tough life…

I was a little thrown by the pea green color but on closer inspection I feel these condos have a bit of barracks look to them. Thumbs up or thumbs down?
