I couldn’t believe it but I found someone who is as passionate about doors as I am. This gentleman was kind enough to answer a few questions about his door. He is revarnishing it with boat varnish. He prefers boat varnish to polyurethane because polyurethane doesn’t hold up as well to the exposure of water. He revarnishes his door every two years. This particular door, called the Madrid, was ordered from TW Perry from Bethesda. Perhaps the funniest thing about this encounter was that despite my taking photos and taking notes, not once did he ask me what the hell I was doing this for. I thought that was awesome.
