Readers ask: “We’re staying in town this year for a very low key Thanksgiving, and thought it would be nice to give back to the community. Crowdsourcing the Popville community for any knowledge of local volunteer events on Thanksgiving day or over the weekend. Park clean up, food drives, etc. Thanks in advance!”

“wondering if we can crowdsource ideas for volunteering on Thanksgiving?”

Official word from NPS: “After an extensive rehabilitation project, the Dupont Circle Fountain is flowing again. Now properly balanced and waterproofed, the fountain will run until cold temperatures required it to be winterized.”

Thanks to Brad and Matt for sending photos of the Dupont Circle fountain flowing again once more!!: (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’ve been seeing these ads plastered all over Columbia Heights and Mt Pleasant. I’m curious but can’t figure out a contact from these signs. Does anyone know how to contact them? I’d love to get more information!”

Thanks to Mandi for sending:

“Arrived home from a weekend away to a gaggle of folks on the sidewalk oohing and aahing at this big guy perched on the Argyle. In honor of Native American Heritage Month (I’m Oneida), I thought the rest of the community would appreciate seeing him. In my tribe, the eagle sits from above to warn us of danger (take that as you will) and also carries messages from us to the Creator. If anyone saw him drop a feather, I would be incredibly grateful to know and maybe trade some sage for it?” (more…)
