11th and E Street, NW

Thanks to Justin, Jacob, and Daphney for sharing the terrible news:

“I just left E St Cinema, where the staff confirmed they’re closing. They said it’s not official yet but they’ll announce shortly.

They said first week of March.”

The Washington post reports:

“E Street Cinema, a popular local theater in Washington, D.C., will shutter its doors by March.”


ICYMI: There were shots fired, by a police officer, just before 4pm at Georgia Ave NW and Quebec Ave NW.

From MPD just before 7pm:

“MPD is on the scene of an officer-involved shooting in the 3500 block of Georgia Avenue, NW. One suspect has been shot. No condition at this time. Additional information forthcoming. PIO on the scene.”

“MPD reports the following road closures due to police activity:

3300-3500 blocks of Georgia Avenue, NW, between Lamont Street and Newton Place
Westbound lanes in the 500-600 blocks of Park Road, NW, between Warder Street and Georgia Avenue”

Georgia and New Hampshire Ave, NW

Readers reported just before 4pm: “Big police presence in Georgia Ave between Otis and New Hampshire Ave. helicopter circling as well.”

“Multiple shots. May have been related to police traffic stop at Quebec and Georgia.”

From MPD: “MPD is on the scene of an officer-involved shooting near the area of Georgia Ave NW and Quebec Ave NW. At this time, no one has been struck. Additional information forthcoming. PIO en route to the scene.”
