I’m still a little staggered from Dos Gringos closing so wanted to share a bit of positive news from Mount Pleasant via the magnificent Martha Dear:
“THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR OUTDOOR SEATING LATELY. WE ARE KEEPING IT. IT IS COSTLY. IT WILL SHRINK IN SIZE. THE PROCESS WAS EVERYTHING BUT EASY.
TO SUPPORT ALL THIS, WE ARE LAUNCHING A CURATED OUTDOOR MARKET EVERY OTHER SATURDAY THROUGH THE END OF SEPTEMBER. MAY 16TH WILL BE OUR FIRST MARKET DAY: 11AM – 2PM.
OUR DAYTIME MARKET IS A WAY TO FILL THE OUTDOOR SPACE WITH COMMUNITY. IT WILL FEATURE OUR TASTY FOOD AND LOCAL VENDORS SELLING THEIR COOL WARES: VINTAGE, CERAMICS, ONE-OF-A-KIND ART, JEWELRY, FLOWERS, MAYBE PLANTS, MAYBE DOGS TO ADOPT. THIS IS WHAT WE MAKE IT. THERE WILL BE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES. WE WILL BE THERE BEFORE AND AFTER YOUR FARMER’S MARKET RUNS.
IN SHORT, WE LOVE LEMONADE, AND WHEN HANDED A BUNCH OF LEMONS, WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THE BEST LEMONADE YOU’VE EVER HAD. IF INTERESTED IN SHOWCASING YOUR GOODIES EMAIL [email protected]”
For those unfamiliar with Martha Dear:
“Martha Dear is owned by Demetri Mechelis and Tara Smith. We opened in December 2020. We are part neighborhood pizzeria and part Greek taverna. Our menu centers around Demetri’s Greek roots, love of vegetables, and naturally leavened pizza. We use lots of Greek olive oil. We are into natural wines mostly from Greece, and love a boozy bitter cocktail.”
