From the Files of that was Fast! Owl Room closing at 14th and U (in former Marvin space), Victory Lounge becomes YOLO Restaurant and Lounge next door

2007 14th Street, NW

Thanks to Lexie for passing on from the Owl Room:

New Years Eve with Dance Club will be the final party at The Owl Room.

While we are saddened that we are unable to continue in the space at 14th & U, we feel immense gratitude for the support shown to us by our underground community and would like to thank everyone who has played a part in making The Owl Room what it has been over the past year. The talent we have witnessed has been nothing short of inspiring. We hope that everyone who performed, promoted, danced, hung out or worked at The Owl Room will be able to look back on it and smile. We are eternally grateful for you all.

In the remaining weeks we are open, we hope you can stop by and share a final dance (or two or three) with us as we say farewell to this amazing space.

“Here for a good time, not a long time…

Updates when we learn what becomes of the space.

I also noticed that the former Victory Lounge (et al) space has changed names once again:

2005 14th Street, NW previously home to Victory Lounge, Bar Lorea, Diet Starts Monday, The BBQ Joint, Den of Thieves, Hanoi House, and Blackbyrd Warehouse space. Turnstile at 2005 14th Street continues to Turn…

Yolo’s website says:

“Yolo Restaurant and Lounge was born out of an idea to create a place where people could enjoy 5-Star meals in a relaxing, welcoming environment. Ricardo, a decorated businessman, had visions of opening an elite restaurant with an ambiance Washington, D.C. had never seen before. The mixture of a dynamic ambiance, unmatched vibe, impeccable food and hookah came to life with Victory Restaurant & Lounge. The concept originated in Miami, with the first Victory Restaurant & Lounge and the same excitement is being brought to D.C!

Our menu consists of elevated comfort foods that will leave you wanting more. Our restaurant is designed with indoor and outdoor seating that includes large booths, perfect for sharing a meal with friends and family. Whether you’re looking for a perfect date night spot on a Wednesday, or an energetic weekend brunch to enjoy drinks and hookah with friends, Victory is ready to serve you.

-The Yolo Team”

Join local sketch comedy legends (in our own minds) Brick Penguin for an evening of live, dark, rip-roaring sketch comedy. See D.C.’s longest-running sketch comedy group do what they do best, when they’re not performing across the country in places such as the terrifying Philadelphia, the gooey Chicago, the M&M Store-y New York City, and the crunchy Seattle.

Now, our last show may or may not have mentioned Taylor Swift, and we may have gotten into some trouble from confused Swifties who thought they scored a $15 ticket to a Taylor Swift concert. So, to apologize and clear up any confusion, we’ve decided to dedicate another show to her. We promise she might or might not appear this time.
