End of an Era: After 15 years, Looking Glass Lounge announces coming closure (by the end of the year)

3634 Georgia Ave, NW

Some of these are harder than others. Temperance Hall became Looking Glass Lounge back in 2007.

Thanks to all who sent us their devastating coming closure message last night:

Temperance Hall and later Looking Glass Lounge was where (along with Red Derby) I spent most of my nights before marriage/kids. I had our very first anniversary party/relaunch from blogger to a dot com there back in 2007. I had my first date with my now wife there. If my date didn’t like Looking Glass, I knew there would be no long term future for us. Ach this is a rough one. I loath closing history lessons. If you were around at the time. You know. You know. The best people. Real. Diverse. Welcoming. Insane. An extension of home. Stability. A light.

Gratitude. RIP to a real one. We must protect Red Derby (and Wonderland, obviously) at all costs.

Remember when they had pool table?

Today:

Still time to head over for a farewell pint or fifty. And still pouring a little out for DC Reynolds too.

Stay tuned.

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
