“Helluva Way to Wake Up, positive edition”

“Dear PoPville,

I walked up to the 7-11 on 19th and Wyoming in Adams Morgan Wednesday morning, to get milk for coffee.

My car happened to be parked on 19th and Wyoming. As I headed back home I noticed a piece of paper under one of my windshield wipers.

Remarkably it survived the previous nights deluge.

It was a note from a DC resident, with his name and phone number, explaining that he accidentally pinched my car’s fender, while trying to navigate a pretty narrow street with a school bus heading in the other direction.

The damage was fairly minimal. And if the car were older I would let the honest citizen off the hook entirely.

I didn’t text him until Thursday, because I was investigating low-dollar repair options to reward his honesty.

But when my own insurance provider wouldn’t respond and private body shops were telling me 3-4 weeks back up I decided it was fair play to contact him.

And when I did he was apologetic and had already filed a claim with Geico.

I used the claim number to schedule a repair appointment for Monday morning, complete with a rental car.

There are good people in our midst.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
