Since, at least, the infamous case of Molly back in 2009 – it has been repeatedly urged that you do not leave your pets unattended.

“Pet parents in the NoMa / H Street / Capital Hill area, please be aware that there is a woman stealing dogs from outside businesses.
She stole a dog on Saturday, May 21 from the Giant at H and 3rd NE, then attempted to take another dog from the Union Kitchen on F and 3rd NE on Monday, May 23, only hours after the first dog was taken back from her.
She lives near the intersection of K and 2nd St NE, which is where she was spotted with the first dog she stole. The police are aware of her and were unable to intervene to retrieve the dog and indicate that she is a known concern but one that they cannot do much about. She does not have a dog, so if she is seen walking with one (off-leash, which is how she has always been seen with dogs), the police should be notified immediately.
Please do not leave your dogs unattended in NoMa for any period of time!”
