I wanted to share a quick story of gratitude tonight. I had dinner at a friends house in Mt. Pleasant tonight, and when I got in my car to leave, I realized I had a very flat tire. My friend and I were deciding whether I should just leave it or if I could make it home safely to Petworth and deal with it tomorrow. I opted for the latter, but drove only a half a block when it became obvious that I could not drive with this tire. I pulled over on Monroe, on the East side of 16th, and a man named Ralph stopped to ask if I needed help. He pulled over and he began to help put on my spare, but it was rough getting the tire off. Two other guys, Pedro and Juan, came upon the scene,
and they got the bad tire off and put the spare on. I got home safely. I realize it’s not an over-the-top amazing story, but it was a really positive experience, considering these times. They had no reason to stop and help, but they did. I didn’t have much to show my appreciation, and they didn’t want anything. Just a pure, neighborly thing to do. I am very thankful for them.
I want to recognize them for their help. Damn, that tire was hard to get off!!! I could never have done it myself. Recognition of Ralph, Pedro, and Juan.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
