7DrumCity Expanding in Truxton Circle

Thanks to Truxton Circle, DC for passing on the 7DrumCity’s Instagram post:

Big news: 7DC has signed a 15-year lease for the building directly next door to us at 1508 North Cap!! MAIN PLAN: 1 – 3-4 more rehearsal rooms in the basement 2 – open floor plan for events on the 1st floor (read: small venue; we will use pop-up shops to start, then pursue more legit licenses) 3 – more lesson rooms upstairs. 4 – We got the place a little earlier than planned since it became available earlier and we had to jump on it… So, we will be subletting specific rooms as we grow into it. If your business is interested in an upstairs room, let me know! 5 – We will take the fence down and combine the yards too. The plan is to be ready by September/October. Thank you to everyone who made it possible to get this far!! Can't wait to see how it all unfolds and how the next chapter of the DC music scene writes itself through this space. I will be giving a couple tours upon request tonight at the April Fools Potluck Jam 6-10pm. We will be gutting the entire interior starting Wednesday this week. Happy Easter, and hope you can stop by! Much Love, Miles

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
