Ed. Note: Check out their menu here.

From a press release:

“The Capital Burger (1005 7th Street NW; 202-638-0414) joins Washington’s exciting restaurant scene this March, opening in Mount Vernon Square, convenient to the buzzy Shaw neighborhood, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, and downtown’s bustling central business district. The 150-seat restaurant will offer a menu of specialty and classic burgers paired with a world-class wine program in a modern, comfortable dining room and vibrant lounge perfect for gatherings large and small. The Capital Burger will provide Washington diners a familiar, elevated service and a keen sense of hospitality – an extension of its legendary sister restaurant, The Capital Grille on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The result is a classic meal fit for an epicure; a luxury burger experience.

General Manager Matt Jaffe is currently recruiting a staff of 60 who will prepare and serve an all-day menu focused on the beloved American ritual – burgers.

At The Capital Burger, each burger is made with a proprietary beef blend, served on a toasted brioche bun. Options range from a distinctive classic cheeseburger with elevated toppings, to memorable combinations like blue cheese and truffle, or French-onion with Wisconsin Grand Cru Gruyère and shallot aioli. Every dining experience starts with a complimentary Mason jar of house-made pickles, and guests can expect fries hand-cut daily and dusted with sea salt or a Mixed Baby Greens Salad to accompany. While luxury burgers are the focus, the restaurant also features other appealing options like a Southern-Style Fried Chicken Sandwich with a spicy honey, and a Maine Lobster Roll made with a ¼ lb. of chilled lobster.

Wine, an essential part of the luxury experience, is central to The Capital Burger’s bar program. The diverse wine list includes exceptional labels appropriate for any occasion. Highly sought-after vintages will be available as part of a Rarely Offered by the Glass list, alongside an array of varietals handpicked to enjoy with an extraordinary burger. To create a perfect pairing for any taste, The Capital Burger will also proudly pour local beers from DC Brau, Port City, and Right Proper alongside perennial favorites, and seasonally inspired cocktails. The Stoli Doli, a vodka-infused pineapple cocktail made famous at The Capital Grille, is reimagined as a spiked shake, leading a menu of refreshing flavor combinations that capture modern nostalgia for another American favorite. Other spiked shakes include the “Hot” Chocolate with chocolate ice cream, Patrón, and Ancho Reyes Chili Liqueur for a spicy twist, or the Black and Blue with vanilla ice cream, Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, and fresh blueberries.

An extensive Happy Hour will be available seven days a week from 3pm to 6:30pm, featuring signature luxe sliders and shared snacks, and a range of selections from the bar, including proprietary wines. As weather permits, Happy Hour and the full menu will be available on the restaurant’s spacious, shaded patio.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
