If you want to eat for a good cause past Saturday – hit Himitsu.

“WHAT: This year more than ever before, the DC restaurant community has mobilized to help neighbors and friends near and far. Earlier this year, Himitsu‘s Carlie Steiner and Kevin Tien supported Planned Parenthood ahead of January’s Women’s March. In the past week, Tropical Storm Harvey has flooded Houston and the surrounding areas, causing hundreds of thousands of people to evacuate their homes.
In response, Himitsu will be open on Sunday September 3rd and Monday September 4th for regular dinner service and a Chicken Sando lunch pop-up. 100% of profits will be donated to local Texas resources- one for immediate relief and one for long-term relief that will help build back homes and neighborhoods. They are The Greater Houston Community Foundation and The United Way.
Himitsu will also be donating 10% of their profits (and will accept open donations) all week leading up to Sunday and Monday to Feeding Texas, a nonprofit that works with state and federal relief efforts and steps in during major disasters to help coordinate food efforts.

The Chicken Sando is a family meal staple at Himitsu and includes the restaurant’s signature Karaage Fried Chicken. On 9/2 and 9/3, it will be available for lunch at the restaurant, and to-go during dinner service.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
