From a press release:
“The rain hasn’t stopped falling over southeast Texas, but relief efforts are already well on the way from every corner of the country. It’s obvious from the horrific images of devastation all across Houston and the Gulf Coast, this storm will require help from all of us. While no amount of money is enough to replace lost loved ones or repair the mental and emotional damage left in Hurricane Harvey’s wake, any amount of money is enough to begin to help rebuild.
This Saturday, September 2nd, members of DC’s food and beverage community are banding together for a city-wide fundraiser in support of the American Red Cross’ relief efforts. Organizers from DC Brau and Boundary Stone, among others, are reaching out to partners in the community to join them.
“We are asking YOU, our fellow Washingtonians and members of DC’s vibrant and passionate food and beverage community to donate a portion of your sales this Saturday, September 2nd with the goal of raising a minimum of $25,000.00 to help those affected by the floods,” says organizers Gareth Croke and Colin McDonough of Boundary and DC Brau’s Brandon Skall.
“If you own a bar, a restaurant, a hotel, a brewery, a distillery, please consider donating something toward our goal. If you are patron of the DC hospitality industry, please consider donating to help us reach our goal. If you are a banker, a lawyer, a lobbyist, or a supplier doing business with the DC hospitality industry, please consider donating to our goal.”
In addition to DC Brau, which plans to donate 100% of all proceeds from Saturday’s tasting room sales to the cause, Boundary Stone, DC Reynolds, New Columbia Distillers, 1905, and El Camino have all pledge a portion, if not all of their Saturday sales, to the effort, with more to come.
For anyone who wishes to donate directly to the collection, visit the group’s Crowdrise page.
Businesses that wish to be included in the effort should email [email protected] to have their names added to the list of participating venues at the bottom of the donation page.”
