Thanks to Amy for passing on the seismic news from Greek Deli (1120 19th Street, NW):
“After 35 incredible years serving our community at Greek Deli, it’s time for Irene & I to pass the torch.
Many of you know my journey began in the small village of Sineti on the island of Andros, Greece. I grew up watching my mother cook for our family of seven, sparking my love for food and sharing it with others. After serving in the Merchant Marines and Greek Navy, I came to the United States in 1975, opening Greek Deli in 1990.
I’ve poured my passion, heart, and heritage into every dish—making sure everything was homemade, fresh, and served with genuine warmth. Today, we’re passing the torch to new owners who will continue this tradition of authentic Greek & Mediterranean cuisine.
Irene & I can’t express how grateful we are for your loyalty, stories, and smiles over the years. It’s been an honor to share our love of Greek cooking with you, and we’re thankful to have become a part of your daily routine.
I’ll be at the Deli for the next few weeks. Please stop by and say hello before I step away for good—it would mean the world to me!
Here’s to new beginnings and cherished memories!”
STAY TUNED.
