Bourbon Coffee closed/closing or re-opening soon?

2101 L Street, NW

“Dear PoPville,

Earlier this week Bourbon Coffee on L St NW near 21st had this sign posted saying closed until further notice, but today that sign is gone and there are chairs stacked inside the entrance. Any word on what’s happening and when it may re-open, if at all?

Hope it’s not gone for good… would miss the mellow vibes and coffee smoothies.”

While Bourbon Coffee’s website is still active, a call to the cafe goes straight to voicemail with the mailbox full.

“Our first DC location and our first US location, Foggy Bottom opened at 21st and L streets in downtown Washington DC in 2009. This shop caters to many business people, George Washington University students, and tourists who are stopping in before heading up to see the monuments or into the downtown area. We have free wifi, a number of different seating options for individuals and small groups, and our full espresso menu in addition to pastries, sandwiches and snacks.”

Updates as more is learned.

Ed. Note: Bourbon Coffee closed their Capitol Hill location in 2019 and their Tenleytown location in 2022.
