I had an experience Saturday that is very similar to two recent pickpocket stories here and here.
I was at Good Stuff Eatery in Capitol Hill having lunch on Saturday, July 6th. We sat upstairs and I hung my purse on the side of my chair right with me. I did not get up the whole time, but at some point a couple sat behind us,
with a girl who had her seat backed up into mine. When they bumped into me unnecessarily (it was busy, but there was room), I looked down and checked the contents of my purse but everything seemed to be in order. Otherwise, it was very strange that the whole time, even when my friend went to go to the bathroom behind me, she kept putting her seat into mine and bumping and wouldn’t budge. We thought it was odd, but otherwise didn’t think anything of it and went about our day.
About an hour or so later, I started receiving fraud alerts for charges and attempted charges at Dior, Lululemon, and Saks 5th. I checked and saw that while I had my wallet and airpods, etc., my credit cards were missing. I did not get a good look at the couple since I had my back to them and never left the table, but my friends did and here is their description: male, bald, 30s with a female with straight black hair in a ponytail, 30s. One of my friends who was facing them claims that he thought it was strange they didn’t seem to eat anything there.
