“Dear PoPville,
I’m a poll worker and have been working early voting at Kennedy Rec Center for the past week. Today [Monday] a woman walked in with her two daughters. She semi-nervously asked me, “Can I register to vote today? I just became a citizen today.” She had literally come from the ceremony to the polling place.
After congratulating her, and confirming she lived in DC, the whole polling place whooped and applauded as the Registration Clerk got her registered. The place erupted again after she scanned her ballot and got her “I Voted” sticker. It was a wonderful reminder of the special right we have, and that everyone should go vote.”
