“LEON Restaurants Announces Launch of Gluten Free Nuggets and Opening Date for Second U.S. Location”

655 New York Ave, NW

From a press release:

“The team behind “Naturally Fast Food” brand LEON Restaurants is excited to announce the launch of their latest menu offering, GFC – Gluten-Free Chicken Nuggets. As part of their quest to prove that fast food can be good food, the baked nuggets, are inspired by iconic fast food outlets and served with a choice of LEON ketchup, garlic aioli, chilli and tarragon mayo sauces. The nuggets were first introduced in LEON’s U.K. location nearly a year ago, last August and have been so popular the team knew bringing the dish to their U.S. locations was the right step. The GFC will be available for purchase starting on Tuesday, July 30th.

The GFC launch will be supported by a Find the Golden Nugget competition, in which guests who purchase the new dish can win great food prizes ranging from Free LEON for a Year to free GFC meals by finding a Golden Nugget Ticket in their GFC box.

In addition to the new tasty dish, LEON Restaurants is also excited to announce the opening date for their second U.S. location. Located in the burgeoning East End submarket, the new site will sit at 655 New York Avenue, NW, as part of the ten-level office and retail building containing 756,000 rentable square feet and a three-story parking garage. The historic building was first erected in the early 1900’s sits adjacent to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

The new LEON restaurant will open its doors on August 13th and will occupy 4,000 square feet and seat 70. The New York Avenue location adds to LEON’s U.S. presence, with their first location sitting at 1724 L Street NW in close proximity to Farragut North Metro which opened in September 2018. The New York Avenue restaurant is just steps away from the Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center Station. Shalom Barnes Associates served as the building architect.

LEON will have 15 restaurants in the US by the end of 2020.

As part of the new location’s celebration, LEON will build upon it’s standing partnership with Martha’s Table. Stay tuned for details on how customers can soon get a first-taste while supporting the charitable organization.”

LEON opened their first D.C. location at 1801 L Street, NW back in September 2018.
