End of a Coffee/Convention Center Era

Holy smokes – First Cup Cafe (formerly formerly known as Breakwell’s) closed!??! There was a time this would’ve been big news. And so it goes.

Back in 2009 Simon said about First Cup Cafe:

“I love this place! It’s run by an Ethiopian woman who couldn’t be nicer. The back room has lots of table space and a surprising amount of light. I’ve sat there writing for hours and hours. The breakfasts are fine (a little generic except for some yummy quiche-like thing they call stratta) but for downtown, the space can’t be beat.”

Updates when we learn who rents the space.

There’s a reason Well-Paid Maids has hundreds of positive reviews from happy clients.

The home cleaning company pays cleaners — who are W-2 employees — a living wage starting at $24 an hour. Plus, cleaners are offered benefits, including insurance, 24 paid days off a year, 100% employer-paid commuting costs and more.

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, said it best: “People deserve their work to be respected and recognized. When that happens, you love what you do, and you create the best results.”
