18 Year Old Cat Missing from Silver Spring

“My 18-year-old cat has been missing since Saturday morning. She was spotted two streets down and someone called animal control, but animal control did not take her into custody. She should still be in our South Four Corners neighborhood, which is close to Holy Cross Hospital and Sligo Creek Park. I’ve had her since high school, and I’m devastated by her disappearance.

Details – Black, orange, and white calico. She’s about 5 lbs, has a little black “beauty mark” by her nose, and a white belly. Arthritic hind legs and deaf – once again, she’s very old for a cat.”

Please call 417-268-5552 with any sightings.

I’m sure you’re on top of this, but just a reminder to:
Put food and water outside near the point of escape or close to a good hiding spot nearby. Use strong smelling canned cat food that your cat can smell from a distance so your cat knows where to go for food.
And to put your cat’s litter box and any bedding that has your cat’s scent on it outside – soiled litter can help lure the cat back home, as it’s a comfortable and familiar smell.
I hope you find her soon!

I’ve heard the same about the cat littler–that they can smell it up to a mile away. Crossing my fingers she comes home soon!

Yes, thank you! We have her litter out, and we hired a pet tracker to trace her scent last night. We think we’ve located her water source on Tenbrook and posted a camera next to the pond (with permission from the homeowner), as well as a feeding station and an article of our clothing with our scent. She’s very likely in the bushes along the row of houses between Sidney and Raynor, but they’re very difficult for humans to check. Perfect hiding place for a tiny old lady who spends most of her day sleeping. :-(

  • Your poor baby! I live near you, and often go running in neighborhood and will be sure to keep a look out.
