From Facebook:

“Take pride in your Shaw/U Street corridor!

Every year, volunteers get together to clean up, plant, & mulch the 1/4 miles of street gardens that are part of historic Vermont Avenue, in Washington, DC.

This is a great way to meet your neighbors and take pride in the beauty of a vital part of our city. We need about 30 people to participate, more is better.

NO EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED. Training, tools, & other support will be provided. Free breakfast, lunch, drinks and door prizes included.

Try to arrive as close to 9:00 am as possible for training. Meet at the African American Civil War Memorial (U Street & Vermont)

We’ll also need about 3 coordinators to welcome volunteers and get them started if they arrive later.

TOOLS & PROTECTION: Many will be provided, but if you’ve got ’em, please bring ’em, ideally with your name on ’em: gloves, smal trowels, pointed or square-edged shovels, kneeling pads & wheelbarrows. Bright clothes, hat & sun block also recommended.

Request for care: To avoid compacting the soil & damaging plant roots, please do not walk through the beds during the year.

Event coordinated by Jeffrey Willis”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
