    I suspect that it was the result of an accident. People cross the service road to turn onto s st from North Capitol regularly. I’ve seen accidents with multiple cars there.

    Or it could have been the owner of the house on the corner. He previously tried to kill the tree in the tree box and create a curb cut for a parking pad illegally. Maybe it’s spite.

    It was an accident. I’ve seen lots of fender benders from people making that blind right off of N Capitol. Combined with idiots going 40 down the access road it’s a recipe for somebody swerving onto the sidewalk.

    Yeah right. Someone has that relic now in their home! It sure is tempting.

    How illegal is it to paint one of these?
    so many look drab around the city

      Pretty illegal – you need a permit. There was a program that resulted in many of the painted ones, but the (minuscule) funding ran out.

      That said, I can’t imagine getting busted for painting one.

    I hope it was an accident and not deliberate vandalism.
