Last week we learned about Thip Khao’s sidewalk seating – turns out they’re fixing up the inside too:

Side note – I didn’t realize they were open early on Wednesdays through Friday 1130AM-3PM. Nice!! For those not familiar you can see the Laotian offerings here.

  • Nice. We’ve had almost the entire previous menu over various visits, so definitely looking forward to some new stuff.

I miss their chicken Orm from Bangkok Golden! Mmmmmm…. Can’t wait to find out new items.

    Renovations? Didnt they just open?

    • FridayGirl

I thought they opened like, a year or so ago?

They took over existing space from a mediocre Thai restaurant. On Friday, our server said they were moving the hostess stand and putting in a new floor – not sure what else. Looking forward to seeing the new menu items!

that’ll be great, the setup currently does not make the best use of the space.

“Renovations? Didn’t they just open?” That was my thought too.

In Lao, the name translates roughly to “cow tipping.” This practice is not exclusive to rural North America, after all.

The waiter told me Thip Khao is the name of the little woven rice baskets. Or did I dream that…?

I think anon was making a bad joke about the name’s pronounciation “Tip-Cow”…

You’re right. It didn’t even register as a joke. Wow.

My roommate and I just tried this place last week and loved it! We live just around the corner but spend most of our time eating out on 11th street and had somewhat had forgotten about TK…wow, we’ve been missing out. We tried it last Wednesday night where every seat inside the restaurant and patio were taken with a 45 minute wait for just two people. It was worth the wait for sure. I am happy to see that a vibrant and delicious restaurant was able to fill the space of the ThaiTanic that was never busy and overpriced.

Looking forward to seeing what’s next!
