Full disclosure – I was given a press preview and a free pair of pants.

From a press release:

Bonobos, the largest Internet-launched men’s clothing brand in the United States, brings their fresh take on retail to Cady’s Alley with the opening of their Guideshop Georgetown on January 29, 2013. Bonobos Guideshop is an e-commerce showroom designed as Bonobos’ answer to the traditional retail experience. The Bonobos Guideshop Georgetown will be a physical space serving as a highly personal extension of Bonobos’ comprehensive customer service for those who want to see and try on the clothing in person before placing an order on the popular retail website. Currently, the company has e-commerce showrooms in Boston, Chicago, New York City, Palo Alto and San Francisco with plans to introduce the concept in additional domestic cities throughout the year.

Assisting visitors in the Guideshop are Bonobos Guides, experts trained in fit and style that walk customers through the unique range of Bonobos items, from suits and denim to button-down shirts and Bonobos’ best selling washed chinos. Bonobos Guides provide the hybrid service of a fit expert and style advisor in a relaxed, one-on-one environment without the stress of a traditional retail store.

Bonobos Georgetown is located at 3320 Cady’s Alley. Hours of operation are Sunday noon-6pm, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday 10am-7pm and Thursday and Friday 10am-8pm. Guideshop appointments can be scheduled by visiting www.bonobos.com/guideshop. Guideshop appointments are always complimentary.

It’s a good idea to make use of this because their stuff runs small. Really small. Best to try it on and know your size or else you’ll be returning lots of stuff.

but they’ve been selling them on Nordstrom for the past year so i am not sure if opening up an actual store is going to help them scale.

What is it with clothing makers and their sizes? How freakin’ hard could it be in the 21st century for everyone to size things accurately? It’s gotten so bad that I’ve taken to measuring what fits on me, and taking a tape measure into stores to see what size things really are!

    • Anony

      Yeah, seriously about the size.

I ordered (and returned) about three pairs back when they were just mail order. The service was fantastic but I just couldn’t find a pair of pants that fit me right.

Maybe this Guideshope is exactly what I need.

I have been wearing Bonobos pants for over 3 years now and I LOVE them. They are the best pants you can get, specifically the chinos with the interesting linings that peep through the back pocket slit. And their jeans are even better, made from Cone Denim for just $139-$149…JCrew just launched Cone Denim jeans that cost $198. Plus the jeans are Made in the good ol’ US of A. Try them out, you won’t be disappointed. Welcome to DC, Bonobos!

You’re right, it does now what I went back and read it. However I promise you I don’t, just a big fan.

Apparently I can’t type either! — Correction: You’re right, it does now that I went back and read it. However I promise you I don’t, just a big fan.

Do you have to make an appointment?

    • D

Good question. I’d be more likely to drop in.

  • “without the stress of a traditional retail store” . . . this line made me chuckle. Do people really find retail clothes shopping stressful? My wife loves, loves, loves to shop for clothes. I’m ambivalent and utilitarian in my approach to it. It never occurred to me that “stress” was a common emotion attached to it. Hmmmmm.

I don’t know about shopping in general, but shopping in Georgetown is stressful, just for the sheer amount of idiots wandering around with their noses in their iPhones, not paying attention to where they’re going.

    Look at those turquoise pants!
