“Cupcake/pizza/coffee happy hour in Mt. Pleasant – support local businesses and paid family leave!”

From a press release:

“What: The DC Paid Family Leave Coalition is celebrating National Small Business Week with a “Purchasing Power Happy Hour” (non-alcoholic) featuring three of the over 60 local establishments who are speaking out for decent jobs and common-sense paid leave policies. Happy hour snackers and sippers can purchase beverages from Flying Fish Coffee & Tea, pizza from Angelico’s La Pizzeria (Mt. Pleasant location), and cupcakes from Grassroots Gourmet. Attendees will also have the opportunity to make Mother’s Day cards for Councilmembers urging them to show some love for DC moms – and all parents and family members – by passing a powerful paid family and medical leave policy.

Small business owners in our city’s neighborhoods provide the daily necessities, and the special treats, of our daily lives. These owners want to be good employers and good neighbors – but it’s just too expensive to provide paid family and medical leave out-of-pocket. Over 60 local businesses across the District, from bakeries to banks, have joined the DC Paid Family Leave Coalition working for a strong paid leave program that levels the playing field for small businesses, supports valued employees at tough times, and helps keep people in decent jobs. Delicious coffee, pizza, and cupcakes don’t have to come with a side of low wages and benefits – we can have good jobs and tasty treats too.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
