From an email:

“Families and revelers of all ages welcome – clap along to live German folk music, engage in carnival games and explore delicious food options. Big kids welcome to imbibe in more spirited tradition!

In partnership with Meridian Pint, the community nonprofit known as the Columbia Heights Initiative, will host the semi-annual Oktoberfest block party on Saturday, October 3 from 11am-6pm. Located on 11th street between Park and Monroe, this free event welcomes all ages to join the festivities!

An Oompa Loompa band will showcase the sounds of Bavaria as visitors explore culinary delights brought to you by neighboring restaurants. The Meridian Pint Biergarten, open only to those 21+ will ensure that the most recognized of Oktoberfest traditions is honored, offering a variety of beers in a tented area spanning nearly half a block! A portion of the proceeds from the biergarten will benefit the Columbia Heights Initiative. Dirndls and Liederhosen are not required, but are encouraged!

General admission is free, though guests are requested to bring nonperishable canned goods to the Columbia Heights Initiative welcome table as a community food drive donation. Thanks to the generosity of annual sponsors, the Columbia Heights Initiative is able to create these unique opportunities for residents and businesses to get to know one another, celebrate diversity, have fun, and enrich the quality of life in our community.

This Oktoberfest is rain or shine.”

Please Note: The following streets will be closed from 6:00 am – 8:00 pm.

* 11th Street, NW between Park Road, NW and Monroe Street, NW

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
