  • Guess not enough people were willing to pay for artisanal ice…

  • I would seriously donate money to a “bring back Mighty Pint” kickstarter…

  • Or it could be the smell of decomposing vermin wafting from the closet in the back of the dining room. It was so bad, we tried to move to the front of the bar after lunch to finish our drinks but ultimately just left them…..

    • Yeah…not sure why that smell has ALWAYS been there. It lasted from Madhatter to Mighty Pint to this place.

      • I was very, very regular at the old hatter. It ain’t vermin it is plumbing / sewage. Basically stuff leaks in what was the bathroom under the stairs due to an ancient plumbing stack that would be a very expensive. Think new plumbing stack and foundation work. Until someone plows a lot of dough into the space it won’t be fixed.

I heard somewhere they decided this couldn’t be the restroom it got so bad so they turned it into a closet hence the smell wafting in from the closet.

  • I was a Mighty Pint semi regular. That place was really rough at the end and needed some love. It was a fun, convenient place for Pittsburgh fans to get together, always had a lot of people. I didn’t think I’d miss it as much as I do.

  • Wasn’t Madhatters formerly in this space forever ago?

  • I’ve been there several times for drinks. it’s always empty. There’s no music, and it just has a weird unwelcoming feel to it.

  • Or it could have something to do with the fact that a lot of people read Sietsma’s absolutely scathing review and decided to stay far, far away.

Closing down abruptly and leaving an empty building where a business used to be is taking the Pennsylvania theme a little TOO far.

  • No loss really. Food was only so-so, and the service could be downright hostile.

  • Keep the Pennsylvania theme and marry it with the Camelot/Mpire vibe from down the street for a Flashdance theme bar. Just a steel town girl on a Saturday night, looking for the fight of her life…

  • So does this mean that Union Social in NoMa will be delayed by another year or more?
