More Coffee for Georgia Ave – Perhaps Ping Pong Tables Too

3118 Georgia Ave, NW

A reader asks:

“do you know anything about coffee/bar replacing Ma Ma’s at 3118 Georgia?”

Back in March we learned that a new bar with ping pong tables would be taking over the space. A new permit posted out front says buildout for a new “coffee shop/bar”:

Sounds like in the morning they’ll be a coffee shop and transition to a bar at night. Keeping my fingers crossed on the ping pong tables…

Ed. Note: A new coffee and deli spot is also slated to come nearby to the former Tibet Shop at 3213 Georgia Avenue, NW.

  • This is great. I’m excited about the prospect of coffee in every direction, just a short walk from home.
Any idea what’s going on a bit up the street, right next to Lion’s Liquors? Tony Shallal, who does appear to be Andy Shallal’s brother, is the name on the permits, but it doesn’t say much about what’s happening there.

  • I just still miss Ma Ma’s…but glad to see something with potential take it’s spot.

  • This sounds promising!

  • I dream of the day we will have a coffee shop/bakery/deli in Park Place above the Petworth Metro.

    • +1. Wasn’t Donatelli buying out its overcautious California equity partner that kept vetoing any new establishments that weren’t chains? I wonder what the latest on that is.
