Columbia Heights Community Marketplace – Farmers Market Kicks Off Saturday

“Farmers market opening will feature ribbon cutting, raffle, and, of course, fresh, local food!

The Columbia Heights Community Marketplace (The Marketplace) will open for its fifth season on April 19. Come celebrate the long anticipated return of spring at the Marketplace with a ribbon cutting, a raffle full of great prizes from local businesses, live music, and, most importantly, fresh, local food! [some great raffle prizes available from local businesses- Maple, Room 11,Meridian Pint, The Coupe, Sticky Fingers, Red Rocks, Acre 121, Yoga Heights, and more, as well as two Washington Nationals Baseball tickets.]

The Marketplace will also kick off a fundraising campaign to raise $10,000 for the farmers market matching funds program. This program helps low-income market customers spend more money on healthy fruits and vegetables. Since 2010, we have provided over $55,000 to low-income customers who shop at the market using federal nutrition programs like food stamps.

Farmers’ Market: 9:00am – 1:00pm
Ribbon Cutting: 10:00am
Raffle: 11:30am
Music: 10:30am – 12:30pm
