  • Anyone know what happened with the woman who yelled at the top of her lungs “OH MY FU**ING GOD” for about 15 minutes in the Alley between 600 block Irving an Kenyon this morning about 3:45a.m? I called the police, they came, then more vehicles.

  • I live on the 1300 block of Kenyon and work nights at one of the hospitals near the unit block of Irving. On my way to work in the evenings, I’ve noticed there’s a hundred foot or so stretch before the alley on the south side of the 600 block of Kenyon where young people congregate, block the sidewalk to pedestrians, smoke pot, and litter the sidewalk with junk food wrappers. While I don’t believe littering and smoking pot make people hard criminals, there’s a sketchy vibe on this block and I will often cross the street when the crew is lurking about. It also seems this block has had issues in the last 6 months.

Columbia Heights/Park View/Pleasant Plains has seemingly changed for the better in the 5 years I’ve lived in the area, but it’s upsetting to still hear gunshots when I’m minding my business at home and stories like this one. I feel terrible for this victim.

    • I too am frustrated with the group that hangs out by the alley, brazenly smoking pot and blocking traffic to the alley. Don’t understand why the police don’t patrol this area more. That said, since this awful crime happened, I haven’t seen them hanging out. Maybe they have something to hide???
