  • So DPR ignored the requests and petitions for earlier hours on the weekend. Makes no sense to not open a pool on saturday until noon!

Did you check out the list of DPR pools that PoP kindly included? Some of the other pools have different — i.e. earlier — start times. I’m sure that a lot of this is about budget constraints, but it also might be about how different pools in different neighborhoods are used.

  • man, that pool looks inviting…

  • Are they going to retain the asinine rule (enforced at Upshur pool last year) that everyone needs to be out of the pool during adult swim (i.e., no kids OR adults)? That would be lame.

    • Wait… so “adult swim” means no one at all is in the pool??

    • That was not adult swim. That was lifeguard break

    • as a kid i haaaaaaaaated adult swim. everykid tried to be the first one back in when the lifeguards blew the whistle.

Maybe not so “asinine” — it means that on a regular basis, the lifeguards will get to see a completely empty pool. Think of it as a safety measure — and one that could be particularly useful in large crowded pools.

      • as someone who lifeguarded/taught swimming lessons/coached swim teams/managed pools for over 7 years- that’s really not necessary in most places. adult swim, i.e., no kids, is more than sufficient. if the lifeguards need an empty pool/break that badly, then they are either under-staffed or lazy.

  • Not really a surprise at all, but this just confirms as rational my disgust with public pools: http://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2013/p0516-pool-contamination.html
