3124 Georgia Avenue, NW
A new restaurant is coming to the former Tax Services storefront at 3124 Georgia Ave, NW. A liquor license application posted out front says:
“A new full scale restaurant serving Asian & African inspired food, with an atmosphere for lounging and listening to DJ music or Live Bands. Entertainment with a cover charge. Total number of seats is 99. Summer Garden seating is 18.”
Sounds promising! More info as it becomes available.

I'm not sure who all these people are who are suggesting to park at DC USA. I just...
Work across the street. Business never appears to be THAT good (ie saddest bar/club I've...
Sure, transfer the title, registration, and insurance to someone who doesn't own or drive...
Mat, Thanks again for your support; and your point is well taken.
"Used to live," not "used the live." I hate blackberrys.
I miss hearing the wild cats...
Great news! Welcome to our neighborhood.
Any chance that lovely facade will come down?
Isn’t there another new place in the works on the East side of Georgia Avenue in this general area? I could have sworn I saw a banner up for some new place that was under construction just earlier this week.
You’re probably thinking of Mothership at Georgia and Lamont, which should be opening soon.
Yeah – that was it. Mothership. What’s the story there? I haven’t heard anything about it.
It’s from the guy who operates the El Floridano food truck, and I think it will offer similar food.

He seems to be doing a good job fixing up the building too. I live a block away and have been waiting for it to open.

asian AND african?? gosh I hope they decide to add subs to the menu too!….. snark
Sounds like a nightclub thinly disguised as a restaurant.
+1… glad I don’t live real close by. I’ll give it 50/50 that they make good neighbors.
Gotta say it sounds that way to me too.
yeah like the Sunshine Bar and Lounge near Takoma.
Sounds awful…and more of the same for that section of Georgia Ave..
Swagger, consider yourself jacked.
What does “African” mean? Sukuma wiki & ugali? Tsebhis ? Tajine? Fufu, Banku, Kenkey?
or cassava leaf, jollof rice, peanut sauce, egusi, pepper soup…wait we have that in Shaw — Sumah!
glad we’re finally gonna get a full scale restaurant. i’ve found those 3/4-scale places just too cramped to sit down in for more than a few minutes.
