but the vets who died gave you the right to voice your opinion. God Bless them
i'm guessing they put in some good sound buffering windows? fl ave is LOUD.
^yes. The only danger at this location is being run over by a motorist from Maryland.
Faison's writeups make me crazy. And not in a good "I'm crazy for buying this house!" way.
The Dancing Crab's commercials have to be the worst I've ever seen. The owners saying,...
This is the last thing that corner needed….a dance club!! MPD might as well set up a satellite headquarters on the corner too because they will end up being there all the time.
Looks like you are lumping all dance clubs together. 9:30 club has dance nights. Glen Echo has dance nights. The Howard has dance nights. Are you crying over those? Have you ever even been to a dance club? It sure doesn’t sound like it.
When was the last time someone got stabbed at 930 Club? And that Arcade Fire show doesn’t count because those a$$holes were asking for it.
Who said anything about someone getting stabbed?
oh cmon! you dont even know what kind of audience or vibe theyre going to have.
Absolutely, I understand what you’re saying. Once this corner gets a dance club, it is the last thing that needs to be added, because then it will be complete!! And I agree, there is nothing hotter than cops dancing in a night club. Having an MPD substation across the street would allow them to fill the club with dancing men in uniform at all times.
Can I propose a “reverse caption contest”? Here’s the caption, now go find photos to go with it!
First comes great restaurants and cocktail locations….then came urban people moving in wanting to live in our hood, now more people….and they’ll be dancing!!?? I can’t take this! I miss my abandonded buildings, crack dealers, trash in the streets, and random gun shots. Time to move! We NIMBYs have lost the battle to keep DC in the gutter.
+1000. damned NIMBYs.
I blame it on the boogie
so good it huts
What an idiot!
I hope you are not talking about t-streets comedic genius!
I heard this place is going to have a capacity of a QUARTER OF A THOUSAND people
Haha – you actually got me for a minute on that one. I was like “Where are they going to fit so many … wait a minute…”
Are local NIMBYs actually members of the Taliban? It’s getting hard to tell.
What was there before? I can’t remember.
It was empty for at least the last 22 years.
Is it going to actually feature Tropicalia music? Because that would be very cool.
+1
+1000000
I actually think the initial poster’s concern is fair. That corner is already over crowded (people waiting to cross, bus stop, people entering lost society, bumming, etc.), and you often have to walk in the street just to get by. The sidewalk is exceptionally narrow. Would be about the last place I would want to add more people.
Stop! Hammer time!
yeah totally. it makes absolutely no sense to add more people at 14th and U. Why would you do that when you could rent a 4 bedroom house in Winchester, VA for under $1,500? Oh wait I’m mixing up my whiny rants.
You’d have to pay me $1500 to live in a 4 bedroom in the cultural wasteland of big-box-saturated Winchester.
LOL, Anonymous!
DDOT is re-doing U Street from 9th to 14th and then the second phase of 14th to Columbia/18th. Sidewalks will be widened, lighting improved, etc. I suppose this will lead to new whining posts about street construction or why do we need to make things nicer…lol
Yes, and at the rate that they’re progressing it should be all done by Labor Day.
Maybe by Labor Day 2025!!!
Wait till you see the actual bar at this place. It’s insane with LED lights and whatnot. I saw photos. It was designed by Kashuo Bennet (who also made the head for BLUEBRAIN at Sweetlife:
