The 5pm Post: The Outlaws – Country / Folk / Honkytonk / Blues at Marx Cafe Tuesday

From an email:

We’ll be playing everything from Bob Wills and Hank Williams to Willie & Waylon to Alabama, Dolly, Garth and Alan Jackson. It’s a unique musical event for the area, so I thought your readers might be interested. Thanks!

  • This sounds fun and I might attend.

However, this is certainly not a unique music event for the area. Similar bands, such as The Family Hammer Band, often play Haydees, which is right across the street.

The Human Country Jukebox, which performs similar music to The Outlaws (excluding the pop country of Alan Jackson/Garth Brooks), plays Madam’s Organ, Bobby Lou’s, and other local venues quite often.

Finally, a local acoustic group, and the best of the three, called The Potomac Bombs have played a good number of shows around the area. I believe their next show is Wednesday June 29th at Wonderland.

Again, this sounds like a good event, but it’s certainly not unique.

  • Don’t fall behind on your honkeytonkin’, it’s awfully hard to catch up!

  • Why is there a picture of a cowboy taking a leak on that poster???

  • Green Grass and High Tides Forever!

  • There’s also the Radio CPR show, This Wheel’s On Fire, that has been playing classic country/bluegrass/no depression forever. Outlaws is cool but hardly new to Mount Pleasant.
