  • I was in the National Bone Marrow registry, and got called twice for further match testing. When they called the third time, and I informed them that I was gay, they told me I was not a suitable donor, despite the fact that I have never had unsafe sex and am perfectly healthy.

The FDA and ARC need to reassess their draconian rules on blood/tissue donation. If you are a man who has ever had sex with another man, you are ineligible, even if it was a single occurrence 30 years. But if you are a man who has had unprotected sex with a different woman every night for the past 30 years, you are fine (unless the women were Haitian) you are good to go.
