The Craigslist ad says:

“This is a Gorgeous, spacious 2 bedroom unit located in a Historic 4 unit building on a beautiful tree lined street, Calvert St. Unit has 1 large room & 1 small room. Building is walking distance to Starbucks, FEDEX kinkos, Woodley Park Metro ( redline ), all the restaurants, bars, cafes and nightlife the Adams Morgan has to offer. Dog park is directly in front of our building and pets are fine. Bike or walk to Rockcreek Park, 1 block from our building as well.”

Does $2099 per month sound reasonable for this 2 bed/1.5 bath?

  • Honestly it seems like a bit much but its hard to tell without knowing the actually dimensions. Saying you have a small room and a large room and a kitchen isn’t terribly helpful by itself.

  • Pretty good deal. Please make this a permanent addition to your blog PoP!

  • I love this area–except that my coworker was mugged around there a few months ago.

  • That’s really not bad, but mostly because the utilities are included. Which is funny, because electric is not, but heat and a/c are (the biggest components of my electric bill).

Great location, though, and I’m not even a fan of \red line\ neighborhoods.

  • Well, that’s less than double what my studio costs (without utils included), and it’s in a cooler area, so I’d say good deal!

Happy to hear of the new daily addition, PoP! Especially considering I’ll be apt hunting in about 2 months.

  • Great deal. Great location, good price.

  • I wish this would be available in May, when I am moving.
But pretty much anything is a deal in comparison to my place – awful.

I say good deal. I like that part of Calvert.

  • Looks like a good deal to me — I suspect the bedrooms are on the lower level which may not appeal to everyone, but I bet alot of people would be wiling to pay a premium for the location alone.

  • Glad to hear you’re keeping this feature PoP! My fiance and I will also be apartment hunting in a few months so this will be useful!

  • Looks like a good deal to me. The market seems to have changed over the last year. Last spring when I was looking at apartments in this general area things seemed much more expensive…not that $2100 is cheap. But seems lower than they would have asked for last year.

  • Good deal. General observations: This being winter time depresses the cost, and allowing dogs usually pushes the price up (if for no other reason there are less places that are okay with it).

  • Thank you for following through and doing rentals! I look forward to reading them daily.

  • i’m slightly depressed to see a unit so much larger than my own available for this price, with utilities included no less. GRR. i plan to rent out my studio around 14th and N one day, but only if i can cover a large chunk of my mortgage/condo fee. that’s looking less likely with deals like these out there. fingers crossed.

  • more “investment” properties on the rental market will put downward pressure on rents.

  • ~1050/month each for two people, with utilities and 1.5 bathroom, and in a great neighborhood? Not bad at all. You’d be hard pressed to find anything much better.

  • Yes, this sounds like a good deal until you see the apartment. I stopped by the open house on Saturday. The main floor with the living room and kitchen is pretty nice (although it would be hard to fit a couch in there). However, the bedrooms were in the basement of the building and reminded me of prison cells and there was essentially no closet space.
