Random Reader Rant and/or Revel

You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every Monday and Friday.  Anything good happen this week?

  • Rave: warm weather afoot.

Rant: the suspected killer of that 14 year old boy was awaiting a hearing for carrying a loaded pistol. I ask again: WTF is wrong with our law enforcement system?

  • rant: PoP has still not approved my registration on the forum

    rave: warm weather!

  • Prince Of Petworth

Ed. Note: I get tons of spammers in the forum section so if I don’t approve registration please email me directly with your user name and I’ll get it approved asap.

  • Rave: DC Gov seemed to work really well when it came to clearing the roads of snow.

Rant: Maybe they paid too much overtime because my trash has not been picked up in a week.

  • Rave: I stayed home from work today, and it’s nice outside… good combo of incidents.
Rant: I lost the house I was about to buy. So this is a mental health day.

  • Rave: I easily reserved a car on Zipcar

Rant: I got there and it wasn’t there, the Zipcar service person told me they would cancel my reservation “at no extra charge to me”…..huh?! THE CAR WASN’T THERE!!!!

  • Rant: Why can’t DC get the timing of their traffic signals optimized. Nothing like a light turning green only to see the light ahead on the next block turn red. Stop and go, wasting time and gasoline. We need a google app for this.

Rave: The cooler winter temps sure made for some nice frosty beers.

  • @ 1:20pm–for some reason, DC people seem to like this retardedness. Look at all the debate re the “freeway” that is 15th street north of Mass Ave. I’m with you, though, its a waste of gas and time.

Rant: Realtors. Is there anything they can’t mess up?

  • Rave: I’m going to see Watchmen tonight!

Rant: One of my stupid co-workers warned all of the ladies to “be careful” because she saw a transvestite using the restroom. *sigh*

  • rant: the boy hasn’t called me
rant: where is vonstallin? i miss his rants and raves
rant: i think my cat has worms
rave: i just heard about a vet who makes housecalls!

  • Rave: The weather!

Rant: My hair looks like cows have been grazing in it. 🙁

  • rant: i got a big ole pimple on my chin and it hurts

rave: i can’t wait to go to good stuff eatery tonight and chow down on a tasty burger and shake mmmmmm – i wonder where those pimples are coming from!

  • Wow… a lot of you have ranted on the very things that have been annoying me throughout the week.

Thorough – my normal barber double booked my appointment and left my head to the scissor-happy apprentice, I have a perma-cowlick!

Sittin in Traffic – I was late to work today as a result of my own inefficiencies, but I’ll testify in federal court that the stop-lights were plotting against me when they find the cabbie’s body.

However… I have a funfilled weekend of Rugby Tournaments, Watchmen, and lots of other shenanigans to look forward to.

  • Rant: Today I kicked off an intense work schedule that goes all the way through tax day, on my day off…
Rant: I will probably fall asleep instead of celebrating my birthday as I put in insane hours.
    Rave: Monday is my birthday!

  • I went to DC9 on monday night to see GMPD, a favorite band of mine for some years, as I am a transplant from NE Ohio. Me and the bf got there early. I’m a petite girl, 5 feet even, around 115 lbs, and I knew the venue and wanted to get a good spot up front. We did. YOU HOWEVER WERE NOT AS SMART.

TO THE LARGE GIRL WHO STOOD IN FRONT OF ME: i take issue with you. you were much taller than me, and to add insult, much much wider. You and your friend showed up like 10 minutes before the show. Your friend was self conscious enough to know to stand behind the smaller person. She was actually very embarassed at your behavior. YOU were not as self aware. but you did have one of those fancy SLR cameras, and you insisted on taking photos THROUGH THE WHOLE SHOW- so I guess putting your large frame in front of a petite girl is ok, right? you then proceeded to shake your large fanny relentlessly, and after awhile, we could not help but laugh. i stopped getting angry once i realized how excited you seemed to be at gil mantera in his spandex suit- as this is as close to a man you probably ever get. so in one way, i guess im glad i could accomdate you.

  • Rave: I saw a DDOT representative on a Segway riding through the bike lanes today on R street in Shaw. Anyone have any info on this ?? are they just trying to get real street info? If so i would challenge them to ride that on 6th st nw between RI and Mass…the 2 mini lanes make it a speedway and very hazardous on a bike..

Rant : Def got shot at twice by a BB gun from the east side of the 1700 block of 6th st at around 3pm today. I have some experience with that so when i heard the crack -zip- ping of the first BB i ducked a little and walked faster so the 2nd shot didnt hit anywhere close..turning and giving the whole side of the street the finger probably wasnt the smartest but it made me feel a little better. Cowardly little f*ckers..

  • [email protected], I know the feeling. I went to see Duran Duran in NYC a few years ago, and a tall girl (5’9”-5’10”) who looked bored with the concert was in front of me. I found a spot in front of her, but she decides to start pushing me. I turned around and told her to chill with the pushing, but she refused. Since she did put her hands on me I easily could’ve used my martial arts training to punch her in the face, but I didn’t want to misrepresent my dojang and I ended up moving back to where I was, struggling to see. Why does doing the right thing make me feel so crappy?

    Rant: Still unemployed.
Rave: Today’s weather was nice, and it looks like it’s going to get better this weekend!
