  • Someone is using a communion table to hold up their LCD projector, no?

  • Prince Of Petworth

Oh, a communion table! I’ve never seen one of those before. I went to a workshop last week that was held in a Church’s classroom and I’d never seen anything that said “In Remembrance of Me” before and was a bit confused.

  • damnit, i finally knew one of these off the top of my head, and i got beat to it 🙁 maybe next time.

  • I thought it was some sort of classic furniture maker with a sense of humor.

  • No, no, and no. This is an abbreviated form of, “Remember the Maine!” the battlecry of the Spanish-American War in the late 19th c.

  • PoP: if i remember correctly, you’re coming from a jewish background, right? i was raised catholic, and i can tell you that “in remembrance of me” (in the catholic tradition) comes from the eucharistic prayer before communion where jesus told the disciples to “do this in remembrance of me” when they break bread and drink the wine…

  • So technically it’s a moveable altar, right? (I just noticed that it is on wheels.)

  • It’s the “In Remembrance of Me” slide projector stand. Sort of a cache-all “In remembrance of my trip to Tahiti, Button’s first bath, My first Christmas/Birthday”, etc, etc, etc.

  • At first, I figured it meant that the ashes of another desk were being kept inside that one…

  • It’s the last work by a memorial park bench maker. He knew that when he was gone, there would be no one to carve his name into furniture to keep his memory alive.
