Some Workers Welding At Sweet Mango Cafe

Hmm, I’m not really sure what was going on. They were welding some beams on the roof deck. So what does this mean are they going to double deck the roof deck? Add some walls? A roof?  What do you think the purpose is?

  • I chatted with Joseph, one of the welders this past Friday. They are putting in a roof over the deck I think. He also said he is available to do all sorts of iron and handyman work and to just ask for him at Sweet Mango if anyone needs anything. Nice guy.

  • I don’t know but I just thought I’d take this opportunity to say that when I used to live on New Hampshire Ave. walking to the Metro in the morning and having my nostrils filled with the glorious aroma of Caribbean food was the highlight of my day, every day.

  • seriously though. i think they start at like 7/7:30 AM – it’s ridiculous!

  • SMC is notorious for conducting construction-like work during non-business hours. Their construction may not under the table, but the hours during which they engage in construction-like work certainly pains neighbors in the immediate vicinity. Also, how very odd it is that not a single permit is posted ANYWHERE onsite.

From cleaning the grills with a very loud power-pressure every Sunday night from about 8:00 – midnight, to uplifting steel beams from 7:30am to 11:30pm, SMC is rapidly becoming a very inconsiderate local business.

The chicken is good, the people are friendly enough…. If we could just keep the construction work within the confines of the law then it would be all good.
