Mt. Pleasant Annual Yard Sale Looking for Donations and Volunteers

From a reader:

Mark your calendar and start cleaning out your attic and basement! Tell all your friends!

Saturday, June 14, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm is the Annual HMP Yard Sale to be held once again at 3303 18th St. (the corner of 18th and Park Road).

This is our biggest fund raiser of the year and it is also one of the most environmentally friendly and fun ways to get rid of your (former) treasures and to stock up on some new ones. This is recycling at its best. We will be offering HMP merchandise and refreshments for sale as well. Join your neighbors for a really exciting day of treasure hunting!”

Details after the jump.

Donations: We accept just about everything: jewelry, furniture, small appliances, housewares, toys, tools, etc. Sorry, we can no longer accept clothes, computers, large TVs, electronic equipment or appliances such as airconditioners or refrigerators. We will be collecting donations at the garage behind 1753 Lamont St., NW on the next three Saturdays from 9:00 to noon (May 24, 31 and June 7). Bring your donations rain or shine. All donations are tax deductible and we will provide the necessary forms. Donations may also be dropped off at 3303 18th St. (the NE corner of Park and 18th) on the morning of the sale before 10:00 am.

Volunteers: We need volunteers on the three drop-off days (May 24, 31 or June 7) to help accept, price and sort donations. We always need lots of volunteers the morning of the sale starting at 7:30 am to help set up the sale and volunteers throughout the day to help with sales.

HMP Funds Support: In the past year the funds raised by HMP have supported: the Call Box Project; the activities of Main Street Mount Pleasant; the rejuvenation of the Latin American Youth Center Mural on the Klingle Road wall; a community picnic; and the annual Gala Christmas Party.

Contact: For more information or to volunteer please contact Alice Kelly at [email protected] or by telephone at 202-744-9772 during the day or evenings before 9 pm at 202-387-6635.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
