“Matt Barry, who led Tysons Corner Center for the last four years, will be overseeing a new effort to revitalize Union Station as its new General Manager, Rexmark announced today. Tysons Corner is the nation’s premier mixed-use property, including a shopping center with more than 300 retailers and 2 million square feet, a hotel, office buildings, and apartments.
Barry’s arrival comes as Union Station is already seeing an upswing. Foot traffic has increased by 177% year to date, and the station will soon be announcing plans to reopen numerous retail locations in addition to new leasing — the first since the COVID-19 pandemic hit. (more…)

What’s up with the bike storage at Union Station? It’s a modern glass building right next to the station, which the mayor and council chair opened to fanfare about a decade ago. Unfortunately, the storage building seems to just sit empty and unused. (more…)

Has anyone else noticed a particular shortage of Ubers at DCA recently? The last few times I’ve tried to get a car over the past month, the app searched for 5-10 minutes and then cancelled. This has happened at peak and non peak airport times. Don’t have the same issue with Lyfts and have just tried the taxi line too, but wondering if anyone else has experienced the same and/or knows what’s going on.”

Tthe District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announces the release of the DC Circulator Transit Development Plan 2020 Update Final Recommendations. Proposed changes include the preferred alternative for a new service route for Ward 7 that will connect Deanwood Metro Station to Union Station, and some stop consolidation in the Georgetown-Union Station route that will improve reliability for riders. “Dear PoPville,
Oh my god the same thing happened to me on H Street/union station with someone with a similar description (short twist braids, but a bit taller, I’d guess around 5’10”). Sunday around 2:45 pm. Was transferring from the metro to streetcar so exiting the back entrance to union station. He pushed me to the ground so hard I broke my wrist and I’m now in a cast! I called the police and they arrested him. It’s uncanny bc he said something similar to the cops about how I was the one walking aggressively towards him and deserved it. (more…)
