“The Juvenile Curfew Emergency Amendment Act of 2025 took effect on July 7, 2025. An 11:00 p.m. curfew is now in effect citywide every night for all persons age 17 and under though August 31, 2025.
What does the law say?

The Juvenile Curfew Emergency Amendment Act of 2025 states that persons age 17 or younger cannot remain in any public place or on the premises of any establishment within the District of Columbia during curfew hours, unless they are involved in certain exempted activities.

The law gives the Chief of Police the authority to establish Extended Juvenile Curfew Zones and allows the Mayor of the District of Columbia to authorize an Emergency Juvenile Curfew.

Local food PSA! Saw that Missed Connections is doing 4th of July meals to go and had to pass along the recommendation (if I wasn’t going out of town, I’d be all over it.) Really awesome new chef / concept. The smoked chicken with yuzu white sauce is unreal among everything else I’ve had there (coconut pandan bread!!).

From DC Water: “Noticed the green in Rock Creek this weekend? It’s just a test & is long gone. We used dye to investigate a sinkhole & void near a sewer line on the ramp to Rock Creek & Potomac Pkwy from P St NW. It’s perfectly safe, non-toxic & meets EPA standards. No cause for alarm.”

“The National Park Service (NPS) is taking steps to ensure public safety following the discovery of two sinkholes at the P Street NW ramp to northbound Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway. The ramp will remain closed until the sinkholes are fully evaluated and corrective action can be taken. (more…)
