From an email:

“My sister’s dog went missing this morning in Takoma, DC. She is the sweetest ever 9 y/o boxer lab mix and will come up to anyone if called over. Her name is Coco and she went missing from her fenced in backyard somewhere between 8-9:30am today. She does not have tags but does have a silver chain collar on.”

“We adopted a yellow lab/retriever mix a week ago, today it pulled loose while being walked and ran away at 2pm today. It was by Howard University on Georgia Ave – the dog is 40 lbs, his name is Ollie, he will likely have his tail between his legs because he is always scared, and he is wearing a pink collar that says WARL and a light blue harness with a grey leash attached. Heartworm positive, reward will be offered. POC Roger 914-844-7692 or AnneMarie 801-971-2836.”

“Mishti slipped out of her collar around 10pm tonight by the 7-11 at Georgia and Shepherd NW. She doesn’t have tags on because they were on the collar. She is a yellow/tawny color dog, about 30 lbs, with pointy ears and a curly tail. She looks like a little fox/deer. She is very friendly but skitterish around new people. She would want to sniff someone a lot before she lets them approach her and giving her cheese might help. If anyone sees her, could they please call me at 610-400-7075 or email at [email protected].

It’s probably best if people don’t try to approach her as she is scared. My friend just saw her and she ran away. Maybe folks could just call if they see her.”

UPDATE:

“Mishti is home safe and sound. As soon as I got home and walked around the back of my house and called her she emerged from a neighbor’s landing. A special thank you to all the folks who emailed me about sightings – they helped to let me know she was still ok. It’s so great to know this fantastic community is out there.”

“Lily, a terrier mix, pulled out of her collar and ran away from her dog walker this afternoon (around 4:00 pm). She was last seen at 37th and Upton Streets, NW and was heading towards Reno Road. She’s a shy girl, so will probably try to run if you approach her. If you see her, please call Kitty Block at 202-236-1653.”

Update:

“@PoPville Finnegan has been found! We were circling solid leads in Petworth and got a text that he was spotted back in Brookland. #findfinn”

“His name is Finnegan, and he just ran away at ~5:30PM Eastern time. He was last seen at 9th and Monroe St NE, in Washington, DC. He was running the Metro Branch Trail.

He’s a mix of rat terrier and cattle dog. Photos of him are attached. Any sightings or information will be extremely helpful.

About Finnegan:

* He’s likelier to come if you crouch down and beckon or whistle. Don’t run at him, and try to crouch and stay low if you get near him.
* He responds to “Finnegan”, “Finn”, and whistles.
* He is microchipped.
* He likes peanut butter, jerky, and other normal dog things.”

OP writes: “I didnt get a picture of him before he took off but this is kind of what he/she looked like”

“Dear PoPville,

This morning at about 8:35 i was walking to the bus stop and saw a little white dog eating some garbage in my block, and I didnt recognize him as any of my neighbors dogs so I assume he is lost. “He” (couldve been a she) had a collar on but I couldnt tell if it had tags. I tried to coax him over but he spooked and ran away. I saw him on the 1400 block of Parkwood place running towards 14th street (by the Exxon station). He was small to medium, white, shaggy, about 20 pounds I’d guess. Looked like his collar was blue or purple. Very timid- took off running when i took one step towards him.”

“Today I found this sweet, older male dog around 14th and Independence SE, though he was moving along and no neighbors knew him so I’m guessing he came from further away. He is skinny and has a collar but no tags. He got along great with my dog but was barking in the apartment so I had to take him to the Humane Society on New York Ave. If you know anything about this dog or if you want to adopt him please contact the Washington Humane Society, 202-567-6664.”
