I can’t tell you how many times I’ve popped in here over the nearly ten years I’ve lived on Capitol Hill, and I guarantee you I turn the corner of 5th and East Capitol and try and pop in again out of habit at least a few more times. What a loss.”

I recently overheard a conversation inside ACE Hardware in Woodley Park. A staff member was telling a customer that the store would be closing permanently in a month or two, because it had never made a profit in its 10 year history. Say it ain’t so!”
The owners sadly confirm the coming closing: “We will be closing in August and our team members will be transferred to another one of our locations if they would like to continue to work with us.” (more…)

I stopped by the CVS at the corner of Connecticut and Calvert the other day and saw some workers actively taking down Afghan Grill’s signage. Their “open” neon sign was lit though! Any idea if they are closed for good or, hopefully, just replacing their old signs with new ones?”
