From the Mayor’s Office:

“Mayor Bowser is announcing that beginning Tuesday, June 29, people who help unvaccinated friends, family, and neighbors make a plan to get vaccinated and accompany them to a vaccination site can receive a $51 VISA gift card. Through the Take the Shot, DC Vaccine Buddy Program, individuals can redeem up to 11 gift cards (one card per unvaccinated DC resident that they accompany to a vaccination site). To participate in this offer, both people must be at least 18 years old and have a state-issued ID. The three vaccine buddy sites are the same sites hosting the Take the Shot, DC giveaway: the RISE Demonstration Center at St. Elizabeths, Anacostia High School, and Ron Brown High School. The person getting vaccinated will also receive a $51 VISA gift card.

At the Take the Shot, DC giveaway sites, individuals who get their first shot (or only shot, in the case of Johnson & Johnson) and are 18+ can also enter into a drawing to win: (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I have a HUGE disposable mask surplus. Like I have maybe 500 or so. A relative keeps sending them to us but we definitely do not need this many. They are mostly KF94s, all sealed in packaging. Are any places still taking mask donations?”

“Dear PoPville,

Are facemasks in supermarkets still required in supermarkets other than Trader Joe’s or not? Harris-Teeter has it on their website that they are not required, but everybody is wearing them in the one in AdMo. There are no signs saying they are required in any supermarket I have been in recently yet I don’t see any customers without facemasks. I haven’t heard any press announcements either.”

Thanks to Matt for sending last night: “The Blue Bottle Coffee at Midtown Center has been wrapped in brown paper. No signs on the door. I’m guessing we lost another one.”

When we recently spoke about the Logan Circle and Wharf permanent closures we noted Blue Bottle’s website only lists locations for Georgetown, Union Station and Union Market.

However, in more positive coffee news: (more…)

Yesterday we spoke about those continuing to have difficulty getting DMV appointments.

From the Mayor’s Office:

“This week, the DC Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) extended the time residents have to renew expired driver licenses and identification (ID) cards to September 9, 2021. The previously announced deadline was July 1, 2021. This action, as well as other changes DC DMV is making, will give residents more time to renew driver licenses and other ID cards that require an in-person appointment at a DMV Service Center.

This announcement does NOT impact the enforcement of valid inspections and vehicle registrations that took effect on June 1, 2021.

In-person service at all DC DMV service centers, adjudication services, and the Deanwood CDL Office is still by appointment only. DC DMV will continue to offer more appointments and other options to ensure all residents have a chance to be in compliance with their credentials before the September 9, 2021 deadline. Changes at DC DMV include: (more…)
