At long last!! Pearl’s Bagels is nearly here (on 7th Street across the street from the Convention Center near the original Passenger location.)

From the owners:

“The day has finally come and we’re going to open this Saturday!

For now, we’ll be doing contactless takeout via online pre-order (the day before) only. Once we get a handle on how many bagels to make any given day, we’ll switch to day-of ordering and ramp up to making all the sandwiches we’ve been planning over the past year. We’ll be selling assorted bagels by the half-dozen, tubs of various cream cheeses, plus “Nana’s Hot Jalapeno Spread” — Allee’s (my wife and business partner) grandmother’s specialty that’s similar to pimento cheese, but hotter and better (in our humble opinion).

We’ll also be selling two build-your-own-sandwich kits. The “Lox Box” will feature Ivy City Smokehouse novalox, Little Wild Things microgreens, capers, pickled red onions, a tomato, and cream cheese; and the “BEC Box” which will include Epic Curing bacon, a half-dozen cage-free eggs, sliced cheddar cheese and a little jar of ketchup. Tom’s Chinese Laundry was located here for, approximately, forever. Their yelp reviews were through the roof positive. Truly the end of an era.

They stayed open when they were surrounded by boarded up buildings for years. Updates when we learn what becomes of the space. When I peaked in the door it was getting completely gutted. Read More

Many probably recognize this awesome mural located next to the Warehouse Theater on 7th Street. I imagine it’s not going to be up forever given the development in the area, so I thought it was important to capture it for posterity. I love the “Free to the city love J” dedication. Check out another neat feature after the jump. Read More
