Laurel Leaf, a retail destination in Takoma Park Maryland, will open on March 15. The shop is a collaboration between three small businesses – HouseMouse Books & Vintage, indigro plant design, and Cheeky’s Vintage – who have come together to create a unique space in the heart of Takoma.

“Friends! Our time in the wonderful space at 843 Upshur St NW is coming to an end and it is time for the next chapter. Our lease is up this February and after talking through options with our landlord and partners, we came to the conclusion that we would need to make a change. Our move is motivated both due to operating costs in the current location and what kind of work we want and need to do in order to get to our next milestone anniversary with our community. So! Our last full day of operations at 843 Upshur St NW will be Sunday, February 2nd! We’ll be posting updates here as we release the new location. “Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its Georgetown bookstore on Wednesday, November 6th. The new Barnes & Noble marks the bookseller’s return not only to Georgetown, but to the same 3-story building it occupied from 1995 to 2011 at 3040 M Street NW Washington, DC 20007.

The prestigious structure was erected in 1929,initially serving as the first of Henry Ford’s dealerships in the D.C. area. Now a protected building in Georgetown’s historic district, Barnes & Noble is pleased to reclaim its own history within so beautiful a space.

The new Barnes & Noble will officially open to the public at 10AM ET on Wednesday the 6th, with author Evan Friss cutting the ribbon and signing copies of his book The Bookshop: A History of the American Bookstore. (more…)
